It will also be involved in the advisory board of the programme for external evaluation.

The Institute for Microelectronics and Microsystems (CNR-IMM) Section of Bologna is a multi-disciplinary research centre, with 30 years’ experience in the study of materials and devices for microelectronics. The laboratory raised as a European excellence in the development and use of electron, ion and X-ray characterization techniques, and renowned competences in Transmission, Scanning and Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM, SEM and STEM, respectively). The CNR-IMM agrees to welcome ASC master students for their thesis, in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Chemistry. Researchers of CNR-IMM are also willing to deliver lectures and seminars to students.

The Italian 3rd generation synchrotron radiation facility is a multidisciplinary research center hosting 26 beamlines and 10 supporting laboratories. ELETTRA will offer internships to the ASC students. Researchers and qualified personnel will continue to deliver lectures/seminars during winter schools and participate in the upgrades of the joint synchrotron module. One member of ELETTRA will be part of the ASC external advisory board, for quality enhancement of the program. 2nd-year students in Bologna can visit the facilities.

Topics and possibilities for the practical work will be offered in collaboration with a supervisor from the ASC staff. Scientific staff of UFZ will take part in teaching activities by offering specialized lectures or seminars. UFZ also welcomes onsite visits of ASC students of the institution’s premises, organized by the University of Leipzig. UFZ is willing to take part in the quality assessment by sending a suitable person to participate in the EAB
